Ascension Lutheran Church is a small, intimate and humble church with an inviting and friendly congregation. In 2019 the Church contacted me about modernizing their identity without losing the historical value of their Lutheran roots. Ascension is known as "the little church on the hill" and "the little church with a big heart" and they wanted that sentiment incorporated in some way.
MY VISION (left)
An earlier design displayed the A with a cross through it to be symbolic of Ascension's iconic front-facing window. The blue and orange is symbolic of the sky and sunrise set behind the building.
THEIR VISION (right)
Ascension wanted a more traditional logo. They felt that the church image better displays who they are and their transparent, family-like community and ideals. It also embodies their two known phrases "the little church on the hill" and "the little church with a big heart".
